I’m a former freelance writer, relationship coach, and “former avoidant” who’s slowly gotten used to pointing a camera at his face on social media.

Let’s do this!

I have a high-end Rode mic and a decent web cam.

Or, for articles, I can write in AP or Chicago style — rather than my usual conversational, quasi-grammatical style of dashes and misused ellipses…

Ask Me About My 3 Favorite Topics…

Masculinity & Femininity

Gender Roles Across Cultures

How do we connect better as men and women?

For my own podcast, Polarity Unscripted, I’ve traveled three continents (and counting!) interviewing strangers about masculinity, femininity, and relationships across cultures — from shamans in the Amazon jungle to former lovers, from sex workers to nuns to transgender friends and buddhist monks..

I became inspired by “gender polarity” after a wild first date in Colombia, but I question polarity’s increasing popularity and oversimplification.

Free from the trappings of a formal education in “gender studies,'“ my perspective is fresh and unindoctrinated. It’s just me, my biases, and my willingness to openly listen.

I seek a holistic understanding of the man-woman connection without the 1950s BS or academia’s activism-driven deconstruction.

As a “Former Avoidant”

Attachment Issues in Relationships

Can attachment issues and trauma actually heal? If so, how?

Why did someone online threaten to brand my forehead with a hot iron?

Early in life, I had a pretty wicked avoidant-attachment disorder. I did the work to resolve it.

Now, I value connection like Mr. Rogers, like Carl Rogers, like a Care Bear.

As one show host said, “I’m a unicorn.” People with avoidant attachment rarely seek therapy, coaching, or healing, so my perspective from the other side seems to interest people.

I work with clients around these issues and have some thoughts and techniques that might help.

How to Connect Better

Communication & Man-Woman Relations

If you want, we can chat about the most common sources of conflict in relationships and how to resolve them. This topic has overlap with the other two, and creates a lot of value for listeners.

Also, ask me about “men’s work.”
